Cynthia Maro, DVM, CVA, CAC, VMRT
Dr. Cindy Maro graduated from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987.  She practiced emergency veterinary medicine and surgery for several years, prior to becoming certified in several alternative modalities. She has continued her studies in integrative veterinary care, incorporating Fear-Free techniques in her efforts to decrease suffering and improve the lives of her patients and owners.  Her advanced studies include dentistry, nutrition, acupuncture, animal chiropractic, rehabilitative, myofascial and physical therapies, prolotherapy, Veterinary NAET, animal massage, herbology, homeopathy, Bach Flowers and essential oils.  She is a member of the AVMA, AHVMA, AAVA, IVAS, AVCA and served on the Board of the AVCA. She has spoken at several conferences and veterinary colleges in integrative care, and has written for many professional and client publications. She is dedicated to community service and is a strong proponent of career shadowing, mentoring, and school, playground and community programs throughout her years in practice.  She sees patients for medical, surgical, dental and complementary care at all three of our locations - Ellwood and Chippewa Animal Hospitals and Cranberry Holistic Pet Care.  Currently, she is seeing all integrative, new patients within the practices. Her pets include a rescue Labrador, named Lollipop, and 2 Burmese cats, Izzy and Jupiter.


Amy Wong, DVM, VMRT, VSMT
A native Pittsburgher, Dr. Amy Wong joined Ellwood Animal Hospital in September 2015. After graduating from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013, she practiced traditional small animal veterinary medicine and surgery. Dr. Wong has a special interest in combining holistic therapies such as rehabilitation, nutritional, and herbal remedies with traditional medicine to help patients. She recently completed her certification in Veterinary Massage and Rehabilitative Therapy at the Healing Oasis with Dr. Pedro Rivera. She is also certified in Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy/animal adjusting. Prior to embarking on her veterinary career, Dr. Wong practiced finance law for 5 years. She lives in Pittsburgh with her 3 cats: Maybelle (Mabe the Babe), Abraham (Abby the Flabby Tabby), and Tatiana Jane (Teeny Tiny Tortoiseshell).


Annette Anléu, DVM
Dr. Annette Anléu joined the Ellwood Animal Hospital staff in 2002, after graduating from Louisiana State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Anléu treats pet dogs, cats, ferrets and other pocket pets. She also has special interest in imaging techniques, such as digital radiography and diagnostic ultrasound and echocardiography.

Currently, Dr. Anléu performs ultrasound services at the Ellwood Animal Hospital. Drs. Maro and Anléu oftencoordinate patient care, utilizing imaging techniqes and alternative services to monitor and treat cancer and internal medicine cases, to offer clients more options for their pets' care. Dr. Anléu studied Veterinary Spinal Manipulation at the Healing Oasis with Dr. Pedro Rivera and is certified in VSM and the treatment of animal chiropractic subluxations.  In her free time, Dr. Anléu spends time with her son, enjoys swimming and working with the local YMCA.


Daniel Jones, DVM

Dr. Jones grew up in southeastern Pennsylvania with pet birds, cats,tarantula,hedgehog,duck, rabbits and rodents. His background led him to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. His undergraduate degree, a BS in Biology, is from the University of Pittsburgh, Johnstown. He received his DVM from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. 

Prior to joining our practice, Dr. Jones worked in 2 Pittsburgh area practices. With 17 years experience and a strong western veterinary medical background, he joined our practice in his quest to improve animal health through integrative medicine and improved nutrition. He is currently studying eastern medicine, nutrition, and acupuncture. He has special interest in soft tissue surgery and treats small animal/pocket pet (ferrets, rabbits, rodents) medical, wellness care and dentistry.


Dr. Brian Poteet, MS, DVM, DACVR, DABSNM  

Dr. Brian Poteet, Board Certified Veterinary Radiologist, reads all our CT scans and studies and performs veterinary radiology consultations supporting our team. Dr. Poteet became a vital member of our team in July 2015.

Dr. Poteet attended Texas A&M University where he obtained his undergraduate degrees: an M.S. in Veterinary Physiology, followed by a DVM in 1991. He then completed a 3-year residency program in veterinary radiology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

He served as the Director of Diagnostic Imaging at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston, Texas, from 1994 to 2009. He is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Radiology, as well as by the American Board of Science in Nuclear Medicine. He is a visiting professor of radiology at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University and is in adjunct faculty member of the Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research in San Antonio, Texas.

In addition to scientific publications, he has presented numerous presentations covering various topics including radiology, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and magnetic resonance imaging. His special interests include veterinary nuclear medicine and ultrasound.

Jennifer Hanson, DVM, DACVR and Idexx Telemedicine

Dr. Hanson received her DVM from Tufts University in 1989. After an internship at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston and 2 years in small-animal practice, she returned to Tufts for her radiology residency. She became board certified and joined VDIC in 1995. Additional duties at VDIC included managing the quarterly newsletter and acting as the resident director for VDIC’s second resident, IDEXX’s own Kristy Barksdale-Kunz. She has published several peer-reviewed articles and spoken at local and national meetings. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, reading, crossword puzzles, white-water rafting, and otherwise enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Northwest with her husband and two teenage daughters.

Dr. Hanson and the Telemedicine consulting team offer support for cardiology department, which enables our team to reduce the cost of quality care and diagnostic monitoring of pets with heart disease. We perform EKG's, echocardiograms and Blood pressure monitoring with the expert interpretation, so your pet can receive the benefits of integrative care without the stress of traveling.

Bruce Hall, MBA

Bruce began working at the Ellwood Animal Hospital in 2001. He has an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh and an undergraduate degree in Computer Science degree from Slippery Rock University. Prior to working in veterinary medicine, Bruce worked in management & IT roles in local and international manufacturing. Bruce has a love for all animals and currently has 2 pet cats at home. As a practice manager, he works with clients and staff to optimize the pet care experience and the effectiveness of the clinics' service. In addition, he handles the human resources, finances, marketing, facilities, inventory and operations aspects of the business.

Connie Glavan, Licensed Veterinary Technician
Connie Glavan, LVT, has been an incredible asset to the Chippewa and Ellwood Animal Hospitals since 1998. Her thoroughness, dedication and attention to every detail  make her a vital part of our team. Whether it is monitoring a post-surgical patient, accomodating an emergency by staying late or learning about a new treatment to be implemented in our hopsitals, Connie performs extremely well. Clients are often amazed at how well their pets relax while she is assisting the veterinarian. Connie is knowledgeable in all aspects of alternative and conventional animal care. She assists Dr. Maro extensively in Animal Chiropractic, NAET, Applied Kinesiology, Acupuncture and Massage and Rehabilitative Therapy. Her dedication to learning makes Connie a fantastic source of information for our clients.

Megan Mackin, Licensed Veterinary Technician
Megan Mackin had been a client with her parents and 2 dogs for many years prior to attending the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh to obtain her degree as a Veterinary Technician. She joined the Ellwood Animal Hospital in September of 2006 as a staff member and has become proficient in handling hospitalized pet care, anesthetic monitoring and client education. Megan has made it her focus to assist in improving the quality of life of our patients, and educate clients in all of the aspects of care that our animal hospitals have to offer.  Under the direct supervision of Dr. Maro, Megan also performs most of our rehabilitative treatments, including myofascial and hydrotherapy.

Pam joined the Ellwood Animal Hospital in 2007 and has been an indispensable member of our team ever since. She has worked in the human health and veterinary fields for over 25 years and enjoys the rewards and challenges of working in the veterinary clinics. Behind the scenes, Pam maintains the tools of our trade by calibrating and updating our laboratory and anesthesia equipment, dental and radiology departments. She is extremely knowledgeable about many facets of pet care, in particular pet dental care. She loves educating clients and is caring, and compassionate for all the fur babies who stay for care, creating a home for them, while they are away from yours.  Pam shares her life with three cats, a dog, and a turtle.

Suzanne Broge
Suzanne McKelvey has become a valuable member of our team, as she is cross-trained to assist with patient care as well as handle clients calls and questions at the reception desk.  Her extensive background in customer service has helped her to become an increasingly vital part of the team that serves to improve the health of our patients and the knowledge of our clients. Suzanne also facilitates inventory control, receiving new inventory, and shipping supplies to clients.  Suzanne currently has three cats and a dog and spends her free time protecting humans and animals, by volunteering for her local fire department.

Catie joined our staff in February 2009, as a veterinary assistant. Catie's desire to help animals and decrease their suffering led her to inquire about a position with the Ellwood Animal Hospital. Catie's duties include assisting the veterinary staff and technicians in treatments of hospitalized patients, performing laboratory diagnostics and assisting with post-op recovery of surgical patients. Catie also assists with physical therapy treatments and acupuncture cases, and can often be found working closely with clients at the front desk. In her free time, Catie enjoys spending time with her family and her pets. She enjoys the outdoors and is continually reading and learning.

Danielle has a background in nursing and human health before joining the Ellwood Animal Hospital in 2016. She is pursuing studies as a veterinary technician while working as a veterinary assistant. Danielle has a yellow labrador at home named Lucky. Her love and care for animals drove her to make the decision to switch to animal health care.
